The Tamron 150-500mm f/5-6.7 Di III VXD lens is a compact and versatile super-telephoto zoom lens designed for Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. It offers a wide range of applications, from capturing landscapes and birds to sports and wildlife photography. With its optimized full-frame design, it can also be used on APS-C cameras, providing an equivalent focal length range of 225-750mm.

Featuring an advanced optical construction, the lens consists of 25 elements in 16 groups. It incorporates special lens elements and hybrid aspherical lens elements to effectively control chromatic aberrations and ensure high image quality. Each element is coated with a BBAR-G2 coating, minimizing flare and ghosting to deliver excellent contrast and color accuracy. The lens utilizes a VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism, enabling fast and precise autofocus performance. It is compatible with Sony Hybrid AF and Eye AF features found in enabled cameras, ensuring responsive and reliable focusing. Additionally, the lens has a minimum object distance of 23.6″ at the 150mm end of the zoom range, allowing for dynamic close-up shots and enhancing overall versatility.

The VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization system is incorporated in the lens, enabling handheld shooting at the 500mm ultra-telephoto position. It offers three modes: standard, panning, and framing priority, providing stability and minimizing blur in various shooting situations. The lens features an Arca-type-compatible rotating tripod mount, which also includes integrated strap attachment loops for added convenience and support during field photography. The BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coating further suppresses internal reflections, flare, and ghosting, delivering improved contrast and color fidelity.

Enhancements to the lens include redesigned switches for improved operability and a Flex Zoom Lock mechanism that securely holds the zoom position. The included lens hood features a flexible and shock-absorbing front rim, offering protection against cracks and damage. The zoom ring has a small 75° arc of rotation, allowing for quick adjustments to the desired focal length with minimal movement. The VXD Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive linear motor ensures quiet, quick, and smooth focusing performance, suitable for both still photography and video applications.
