Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro (Canon EF)

Blackmagic Design raises the bar once again with the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro, an even more feature-packed and compact Super35 camera in their cine-style lineup. Building upon the capabilities of its predecessor, the 6K Pro retains the same recording features, sensor, dynamic range, buttons, and ports, while introducing several important new additions. These include a 5″ tilting HDR capacitive touchscreen LCD with a brightness of 1500 cd/m², an optional Pro EVF, built-in clear/2/4/6-stop ND filters, dual mini-XLR inputs, an accurate timecode clock, an NP-F570 L-series battery slot, and updated Gen 5 color science.

Despite its slightly larger form factor compared to the 6K model, the 6K Pro offers the same impressive recording resolutions, allowing up to 50 fps at 6144 x 3456 video. It continues to feature an active Canon EF mount, providing access to the extensive range of EF/EF-S mount lenses. The EF mount supports iris, autofocus, and zoom functions via electronic communication when used with compatible lenses.

The 6K Pro enables creative options such as cropping a second shot from a single frame, upscaling to 8K, or capturing detailed footage with your preferred EF/EF-S-mount lens. The updated Gen 5 internal color processing ensures smooth integration with 6K Pro, 6K, and BMPCC 4K footage for easy intercutting. You can record internally using CFast 2.0 and SD/UHS-II card slots, or utilize the full-size HDMI port to connect to an optional ATEM Mini switcher for live streaming. Alternatively, you can output via the USB Type-C port to an external SSD for extended recording capabilities. The 6K Pro includes a DaVinci Resolve Studio license and supports Blackmagic Raw capture, simplifying editing with metadata and streamlining the post-production workflow with DaVinci Resolve.

The compact 6K Pro maintains the familiar controls and menu layout of the 6K model, including support for ISO up to 25,600, 13 stops of dynamic range, and 1920 x 1080 HDR monitor output. Enhanced audio capabilities encompass two mini XLR inputs with phantom +48V power, a 3.5mm stereo input, a mono speaker, a headphone output, and a built-in stereo microphone system.

Additional professional features consist of lens metadata support, 3D LUT application for monitoring and recording, up to 21.2MP still image capture, and a multifunction grip for convenient single-handed operation. For multicamera shoots, you can synchronize multiple cameras by linking an external timecode generator to the 6K Pro’s internal timecode generator via the 3.5mm audio port. In post-production, Resolve can automatically sync your multicamera shots, saving valuable time.

In addition to the DaVinci Resolve Studio activation key, the 6K Pro package includes a 30W power supply that allows simultaneous battery charging, an MP-F570 battery, a lens port cap, and a camera strap. Optional accessories designed specifically for the 6K Pro, such as the BMPCC Pro EVF and BMPCC Pro Battery Grip, are available separately.
