EOS R7: Elevate Your Photography
The EOS R7 combines performance and portability, marking Canon’s entry into APS-C with their mirrorless R system. With a 32.5MP CMOS sensor and DIGIC X processing, this sleek powerhouse delivers high-speed 30 fps shooting for sports and wildlife. It features the renowned Dual Pixel CMOS AF II focusing system for tracking fast-moving subjects, and supports 4K video up to 60p or 30p when oversampled from a 7K area, as well as Full HD at up to 120 fps.
32.5MP APS-C CMOS Sensor and DIGIC X Processing
Introducing APS-C to the EOS R
The 32.5MP APS-C CMOS sensor strikes a balance between resolution, speed, and low-light performance. As one of the first APS-C sensors in the EOS R system, it benefits both photographers and 4K video with a 7K oversampling area, resulting in improved sharpness and quality.
DIGIC X Processor
With the DIGIC X image processor borrowed from the R3, the R7 handles high-speed tasks effortlessly. It supports up to 30 fps continuous shooting with a silent electronic shutter or 15 fps with a mechanical shutter, with AF and AE readings before each frame. The processor enables a broad sensitivity range from ISO 100-32000, expandable up to ISO 51200 for challenging lighting conditions.
UHD 4K Video Recording
The R7’s sensor not only excels in stills but also offers high-resolution UHD 4K 60p internal video using the full sensor width. It can work with 10-bit sampling and Canon Log 3. Additionally, a 7K recording area allows for oversampled 4K shooting at 30p, resulting in improved sharpness, reduced moiré, and lower noise. Slow-motion playback is supported with 120p recording at Full HD resolution.
Autofocus and Image Stabilization
Dual Pixel CMOS AF II
Inherited from the EOS R3, the advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system boasts 651 automatic AF points covering the entire sensor area. It delivers faster, more responsive, and more precise focusing. Subject detection and tracking have been enhanced with intelligent recognition of people, animals, and vehicles, ensuring sharp focus during burst captures. The system focuses accurately even in low-light conditions, down to an impressive -5 EV.
Sensor-Shift Image Stabilizer
The In-Body Image Stabilizer (IBIS) corrects up to 7 stops of camera shake when shooting handheld, facilitating low-light photography and stable video recording. When used with lenses featuring optical image stabilization, the 5-axis system compensates for up to 8 stops of camera shake, depending on the lens.
Body Design
2.36m-Dot EVF and Vari-Angle Touchscreen LCD
The bright, clear 2.36m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder provides high-resolution eye-level viewing with minimal lag and a quick 120-fps refresh rate for realistic motion rendering. The 3.0″ vari-angle LCD offers flexibility for shooting at high, low, and front-facing angles. Its touchscreen interface and 1.62m-dot resolution ensure vivid playback and live view monitoring.
Reliable and Intuitive Construction
Modeled after the professional-grade EOS R3, the R7 features a robust dust- and moisture-sealed body, making it suitable for inclement conditions. Rear controls have been redesigned for convenience, combining an AF point selector and rear control wheel in a single intuitive spot. Dual SD memory card slots support UHS-II cards, allowing fluent 4K video recording and high-speed continuous shooting.
