The camera features a 24.5MP BSI CMOS sensor, designed for all-around shooting with exceptional low-light performance and fast readout speeds. Its back-illuminated design delivers clean, high-sensitivity output, minimizing noise even at high ISO values up to 51200. The sensor works in conjunction with dual EXPEED 6 image processors, providing impressive speed throughout the camera system. Users can shoot continuously at 14 fps for up to 124 consecutive frames, making it perfect for capturing fast-paced action.

In addition to still photography, the Z6 II excels as a multimedia camera. It supports UHD 4K video recording with full pixel readout at up to 30p, as well as Full HD 1080p video recording at up to 120p for smooth slow-motion playback. Videos can be stored internally or saved as uncompressed files to an external recorder via HDMI.

Advanced video features have been added to the Z6 II, including N-Log gamma for maximizing dynamic range and HLG (HDR) for capturing HDR-ready footage. The camera can output high-quality 10-bit data over HDMI and includes an Electronic VR function for steady handheld shooting. Focus Peaking aids manual focus control, while the Zebra Stripes option helps detect over-exposed areas in the frame. Firmware version 1.10 introduces UHD 4K recording at 60p and 50p frame rates, raw video output to Blackmagic Design Video Assist external recorders, and improved eye-detection performance in Auto-Area AF and Wide-Area AF modes.

The Z6 II incorporates a 273-point phase-detect autofocus system, covering 90% of the image area vertically and horizontally. The Z6 II offers flexible file storage with one CFexpress Type B/XQD card slot and one UHS-II SD card slot, supporting repetitive, overflow, or segregated storage methods. Its robust magnesium alloy chassis is dust- and weather-resistant, suitable for harsh conditions. The ergonomic grip and anti-slip material ensure comfortable handling, further enhanced by a joystick for seamless settings and focus point selection.

Built-in SnapBridge connectivity enables seamless transfer of low-resolution images and remote shooting capabilities. The camera communicates with smart devices via BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and Wi-Fi, allowing remote shutter control and live view display. SnapBridge can also be used for firmware updates, eliminating the need for a memory card-based update system.

The Z6 II improves upon its predecessor, delivering greater speed, faster processing, and enhanced

versatility while preserving the qualities that made the original camera popular. Dual EXPEED 6 image processors boost buffer performance, provide a faster 14 fps continuous shooting rate, and reduce blackout times in the viewfinder. The autofocus system now includes Eye and Face Detection for both humans and animals in the Wide-Area AF mode, applicable to both photos and videos. Timed long exposure shooting is possible for up to 900 seconds without an external remote.

The camera supports dual memory card slots, USB Type-C for in-camera charging or continuous power, switchable focus ring rotation direction, HDR (HLG) mode for external recording, and future firmware updates for UHD 4K 60p recording. An optional ProRes RAW upgrade enables ProRes RAW output to compatible Atomos external recorders, offering enhanced color grading flexibility and uncompressed 12-bit raw footage over HDMI.

Creative shooting modes include Multiple Exposure, 20 different Picture Control settings, in-camera Timelapse recording, and a Focus Shift mode for focus stacking applications.
